Model Years turns US government vehicle data into pages a car owner or shopper can read in a minute: fuel economy from the EPA, recalls, owner complaints and crash tests from NHTSA.

Model Years is published and edited by Avishek Pandey. He works in digital media and data products and holds an MBA from IIM Kozhikode. He decides what is published, reviews the page templates and the data checks, and answers corrections.

How the pages are made

Data pages are assembled automatically from the government files using sentence templates, so every number and statement traces back to a published source. The templates, checks and methodology were built with AI tools and are reviewed by the editor, who is responsible for what we publish. Read the methodology.

Independence and funding

Model Years is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by any automaker, dealer, the EPA or NHTSA. Model Years relies on advertising through Google AdSense for funding. Advertisers have no say over the data or the text.
